This standardisation project will boost the creation of a certification system for biometric solutions to be used in different scenarios. One of the first scenarios to be addressed is the remote identification of citizens using videoconference tools, i.e., using facial recognition with the users’ own personal devices (either computers or mobile devices).

A successful standardisation of Ambient IoT will enable SMEs to create devices, applications and services that use Ambient-IoT-enabled chipsets. For instance, novel applications for inventory management are specific battery-less sensors for the use in industrial IoT.

The aim of the analysis within ITU is to identify existing gaps and market needs in the area of P2P crowd charging systems. Special focus has been given to smart city vertical areas, as well as technological enablers such as battery ageing mitigation, social information management, standardised prototyping.

My fellowship focuses on several priorities and key gaps related to AI and cybersecurity standards applied in education.

The priority is to establish the human as the centre of the Metaverse, where the human has diverse capabilities.

Interoperability ensures that users can seamlessly navigate and interact within the Metaverse, breaking down barriers between different platforms and ecosystems.

Energy consumption can be reduced using more power-efficient hardware, using sustainable power sources, deploying data centers in cooler locations, optimising protocols, using environmental metrics in routing and traffic engineering, etc.

In the proposed activity the gaps related to standards will be tackled within three working groups (WG) where I am contributing to: IEEE P1872.3, IEEE P1955 and IEEE P1872.1.1, related to multiple robots, reasoning, 6G for robotics and task representation and planning.

Quantum simulation will have a huge impact on the study of new materials and new drugs, as well as finding chemical catalysts to remove CO2 from the atmosphere or reduce the amount of energy to produce fertilizers.

A significant challenge for European industrial plants is ensuring reliable connectivity and interoperability among wireless devices. RPL has been developed to specifically address these challenges.

These standards will guide SMEs in effectively implementing and benefiting from the advancements in interactive and multimodal AI, ensuring positive integration into their operations and business strategies.

While there are standards describing processes for considering ethical and social concerns in product and service development, such as AI systems, no standard currently addresses the competencies of individuals tasked with implementing these processes in various organisational types.
