Toward the development of EU-friendly solutions for biometrics-based services, employing strong privacy enhancing technologies, thus going further contractual/organisational requirements, to ensure privacy and security by design. Promoting the use of the newest privacy enhancing technologies is in particular very important (biometric technologies are more and more seen as a way to fight against authentication/identification threats in our digital lives) as sharing or leaking biometric information without appropriate protection can be very critical.

This project significantly contributes to several societal impacts, aligning with European values and the growing need for responsible and trustworthy AI, especially concerning vulnerable populations like children.

Extending AI enabled PV concepts, systems definitions, architectures, use cases and technical specifications of processes and devices under the EITCI SESG (Smart Energy Standards Group hosted under EITCI Institute) AIPV WG, as well as in a dissemination combined with seeking a liason in cooperation with experts joining the CENELEC / IEC-TC CLC/TC-82 (Solar photovoltaic energy systems) and the CLC/TC-57 (Power systems management and associated information exchange) for power systems control equipment and systems including EMS (Energy Management Systems) and SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition).

The following objectives of the NIST MDKP GAFB Specification provide unique Use Cases for 5G, 6G and Future Networks:
“Requirements for Enablers for Cross-Industry Sectors End-to-End (E2E) Services Innovation and Delivery Agility” that facilitate the leveraging of dynamic resources and assets availability in various sector domains when they are discoverable for use in dynamic on-demand network(s) and differentiated connectivity services formations; and/or application-layer service innovation, composition and delivery using the newly formed networks and connectivity services or ones already available such that they can serve the needs of the targeted application layer service(s).
New ecosystem on Cross-Industry Sectors End-to-End (E2E) Services Innovation and Delivery Agility (i.e., coined the “MD_KPs_Feds_For_5GnB ” Ecosystem) in which ETSI GANA Knowledge Plane (KP) Platforms (based on the ETSI TS 103 195-2) as Distributed Open Platforms (DOPs) that enable federated Autonomic/Autonomous Networking (ANs) should play role as anchors for the ecosystem, together with DOPs on the higher level, namely: Service Federation Orchestration & Autonomic Management & Control Platforms that dynamically place demands for differentiated and federated network connectivity services on the GANA (KP) Platforms.

This NIST MDKP PWG initiative presents a tremendous opportunity for the adoption and use of global standards developed in Europe by ETSI in the USA market to steer commerce and open up new collaborations opportunities between USA and Europe stakeholders for commerce and innovation of services and GANA KP Platforms products by industrial players in these markets. This also has an effect of strengthening Europe's position in global standardisation initiatives thanks to the adoption of ETSI standards in US for global reach and use outside Europe. A New Ecosystem is emerging from the NIST Specifications which have potential to reduce Carbon Emissions, thanks to Nework Sharing.

In terms of broader European interests, my fellowship contributes to EU goals of digital sovereignty, user empowerment, and privacy leadership on the global stage. As the EUDI wallet is adopted across Europe, this framework will provide a scalable model for data protection and user-centric identity management that can be extended beyond digital wallets to other data-sharing contexts, enhancing Europe’s role as a privacy leader. With data privacy becoming a key competitive factor, this initiative not only strengthens the protection of EU citizens’ rights but also sets a high standard for digital identity solutions globally.

Standardised biometric data formats enable interoperability and exchanging system components like biometric capture devices, algorithms, storage systems

The standard promotes Biometric System-on-Card architecture, characteristics and interfaces. It is a technology that improves security and privacy for citizens in Europe and beyond, because personal data remains on a personal card.

This activity impacts the societal challenges in three key areas:
Secure societies - protecting freedom and security of Europe and its citizens: Supporting standards on e-identity and e-privacy information management ensures identity information lifecycle, identification, bound proofed identity information and authentication of citizen and societies are in place before authorized accesses to services is provided without compromising their privacy;
Cybersecurity, network and identity information security: Standards on reference architectures around e-identity and e-privacy management ensure information infrastructure has the required controls in place to protect citizen and societies while accessing and using provided services;
ePrivacy protection: Data protection good practice ensures any risk on identity information is mitigate during the processing of the information.
