Policymaking has always revolved around the initiative to solve problems and since the start of more focused research on it, it contained many stages from problem identification and agenda setting to policy formulation, legitimization, implementation and evaluation. As policymaking evolved and societal challenges became more complex, policymakers tried to include more factors into the decision-making process and thus data driven policymaking became an important tool in this field.

This report entitled: “Future Standardisation Education Reflections and Recommendations“ is an outcome of the StandICT.eu online event which took place on the 18th January 2023, which organised this intense 3 hour workshop at a crucial time when the European Green Deal & the New Industrial Strategy for Europe as well as the geopolitical environment call for a strong European presence in international standardisation development.

This report provides an immersion to outcomes of the StandICT.eu 2023 Open Call #7 from the perspective of fellows that were selected and funded under this call. Our team is delighted to showcase the seventh series of StandICT.eu 2023 success stories of the funded fellowships detailing the addressed standards and landscapes, how these will fill in the identified gaps as well as impact the related stakeholders and society.

In the beginning years of the evolution of the semantic web and linked data, ontology engineering made steady progress through academic efforts to support the semantic web stack. The admission of Ontology and Graphs in the “hype cycle” by Gartner’s report in 2020 not only indicated its closeness to maturity but also highlighted that Ontology is finally being accepted as a practical solution for many ICT applications.

This report provides an overview of the work done by the Technical Working Group (TWG), performed by analysing almost 5,000 global standards in connection with semiconductors and chips technology. The table used for this analysis will be published in 6 months from the publication date of this report. This report is split in two major parts: a landscape overview, and a gap analysis. It is aimed to be circulated widely among experts and Standard Development Organisations (SDOs) to help share the findings and the analysis of the TWG.

This report marks the final batch #9 of the funded fellows under the StandICT.eu 2023 Programme. It shares perspectives of fellows that were selected and funded under this ninth open call. The ninth StandICT.eu 2023 Open Call was launched on the 15th of December 2022 and closed on the 15th of February 2023. The StandICT.eu Open Calls target European ICT standardisation experts contributing to the international SDOs, work groups and/ or technical committees at any of the priority topics, as taken from the Rolling Plan for ICT Standardisation.

Over its three-year lifespan, StandICT.eu 2023 has sought to generate valuable recommendations and position statements that could offer significant insights for the European Commission policy setting. This has been mainly achieved through the synergistic and focused efforts of the EUOS (European Observatory on Standardisation), the EUOS Foresight Committee, and the External Advisory Group, which all consist of influential figures in the field of Standardisation.

This Landscape Report focuses primarily on standards to consider when constructing CitiVerse or developing further standards for CitiVerse. Standards for various application areas, utilising the possibilities with CitiVerse, will eventually be taken into consideration in later versions of this document but are not included for now. 

The purpose of this report is to provide a summary of the key findings, take aways and recommendations from the workshop “Accelerating standardisation in the nexus of mobility, buildings and energy” that took place in Brussels on the 31^st of January 2024. The workshop was organised by the European Commission, DG-CONNECT, Internet of Things Unit, the Alliance for IoT and Edge Computing Innovation (IOTI) and HSBooster EU funded project.

The purpose of this report is to provide a summary of the key findings, takeaways and recommendations from the workshop “Human Rights and ICT standardisation” that took place online on the 6th June 2024.

The StandICT.eu 2026 impact event, held in conjunction with the 28th EURAS Annual Standardisation Conference, took place in June 2024, at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. The event highlighted the efforts made to boost the European ICT Standardisation Ecosystem through a fellowship programme, the EU Observatory for ICT Standardisation (EUOS), and the publication of several reports and analyses on ICT standardisation gaps.

As Europe strives towards its Digital Decade targets for 2030, robotics is set to play a pivotal role in transforming key sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and mobility. 

Robotics represents a core enabler of Europe’s broader industrial and digital transformation strategies and the integration of robotics within smart cities, hospitals, and manufacturing ecosystems demands comprehensive and forward-looking standards that ensure safety, interoperability, and regulatory compliance.
