Cloud computing - Functional requirements of Network as a Service

Recommendation ITU-T Y.3512 describes the concept of Network as a Service (NaaS) and its functional requirements. It provides typical use cases of NaaS and specifies the functional requirements of three aspects, ranging from NaaS application, NaaS platform and NaaS connectivity which are based on the corresponding uses cases and cloud capabilities types.

Cloud computing – Functional architecture of Network as a Service

Recommendation ITU-T Y.3515 provides Network as a Service (NaaS) functional architecture by specifying functionalities and functional components as well as reference points for the operation support system (OSS). This Recommendation also describes the mapping between functionalities and functional requirements of NaaS, relationship between the NaaS functional architecture and software-defined networking (SDN), and illustrated usage of SDN and network functions virtualisation (NFV) in support of the NaaS functional architecture.

Cloud computing - Functional architecture of inter-cloud computing

Recommendation ITU-T Y.3516 specifies inter-cloud computing functional architecture, including functions and functional components, based on the inter-cloud computing framework specified in [ITU-T Y.3511]. The Recommendation builds upon the functional view of the cloud computing reference architecture [ITU-T Y.3502] and makes extensions to functional components with inter-cloud functions. This Recommendation also describes the mapping between functions and functional requirements of inter-cloud computing and examples of inter-cloud related reference points.

Cloud computing - Functional architecture of Big Data as a Service

Recommendation ITU-T Y.3519 describes the functional architecture for big data as a service (BDaaS). The functional architecture is defined on the basis of the analysis of requirements and activities of cloud computing-based big data described in Recommendation ITU-T Y.3600.

Set of parameters of cloud computing for monitoring

In accordance with the functional reference architecture of cloud computing that was defined in Recommendation ITU-T Y.3502, Recommendation ITU-T Q.3914 specifies the functional reference architecture of cloud computing according to Recommendation ITU-T Y.3500. This Recommendation provides a set of parameters that indicate the status and event of a cloud computing system, including resource layer, service layer and access layer.

A strong priority for this work is to contribute to standards to enable consideration of the support for data management in the cloud. Data spaces can only be fully realised with the application of strong quality management controls through standardisation at multiple levels.

Contribution to the national body position through discussions with our members provides a voice to the concerns or challenges of our SMEs as well as to larger organisations.

It is critical to establish common European standards linking hardware and software particularly in new areas of technology and standardization. Example use cases include the improvement of reliability of edge and cloud computing where processing of personal data, or highly regulated data is concerned. This is even more important when considering the complexities of combining (even anonymized) data sets and processing that data in cloud hosted environments. With the impact of layered approaches to address these complexities the necessity to harmonize software and cloud-based techniques is essential.
Impact on society (4th Open Call)
As a national body we have members contributing to the CEN Focus Group on 'Data, Dataspaces, Cloud and Edge'. We feel this is important as the cloud supports data and dataspaces whilst at the same time data is utilised in supporting the cloud. This could have a large impact on standards created in the near future. Obtaining expert advice from many areas is important in this early stage of these standards.

Organisations willing to achieve a resilient cybersecurity system will have to implement an information security management system. The standards developed through this contribution will provide SME and European societies with a comprehensive guidance on how to use ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27002. Moreover, ISO/IEC 27017 will provide SMEs working as Could service providers with a comprehensive list of guidelines to implement when providing services to Could service customers.

Organisations willing to achieve a resilient cybersecurity system will have to implement an information security management system. Within that context, this contribution helps organisations of any size including SMEs to achieve better security and cybersecurity through the use of standards like ISO/IEC 27003, ISO/IEC 27028, and ISO/IEC 27004 that will be revised and developed through this work. In addition, this contribution provides technology organisations with a framework to develop and use secure cloud systems ISO/IEC 27017, edge computing systems ISO/IEC 25545 and raise awareness about security and privacy aspects of digital twin systems ISO/IEC 27568 so those concerns can be integrated at an early stage and achieve security and privacy by design when developing such innovative technology.
