PISA – Italy, 14 December 2023 – In a bid to strengthen standardisation as a cornerstone in the European and international innovation landscape, STAND4EU and StandICT.eu have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to deepen the links between research, innovation, and standardisation.
The StandICT.eu project, a leader in this initiative, funds over 400 European standardisation experts through nine Open Calls, injecting €3 million to fuel standardisation efforts. Its role extends to managing the European Observatory for ICT Standardisation (EUOS), offering a dynamic online ecosystem, including an up-to-date standards repository and hosting technical working groups.
STAND4EU targets obstacles in standardisation efforts across four key domains: Welding, Additive Manufacturing, Smart Manufacturing, and Circular Economy. It aims to create an interface facilitating the exchange of information about standardisation obstacles and best practices.
The MoU renewal consolidates their commitment to the European standardisation ecosystem, emphasising the synergies between the two projects. Mona Marill (StandICT.eu) highlights the collaboration's potential to reinforce the lab-to-market process with international standards. Ana Cardoso (STAND4EU) sees valuable synergies in areas like Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0.
Both projects focus on enhancing European participation in International Standardisation Organisations (SDOs). Their collaboration aims to foster standards drafting and development enhancing interoperability and market uptake of technological systems. The collaboration extends to cross-dissemination activities, including workshops and open calls.
This partnership positions European experts to amplify their standardisation work and contribute significantly to the global standardisation landscape.
