PISA – Italy, 12.12.2023 - StandICT.eu & Drones4GREEN announce their collaboration with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
StandICT.eu fosters the participation of European experts in international ICT standardisation. To reach this goal, it has three main axes: firstly, it will fund 400+ European standardisation experts in a series of 9 Open calls, providing almost 3M€ of funding. Secondly, it manages the European Observatory for ICT Standardisation (EUOS), an interactive online ecosystem with an up-to-date standards repository and working groups sharing insights about ongoing standardisation efforts across different initiatives. Thirdly, via its Academy, it trains future experts in ICT standardisation. StandICT.eu focuses on horizontal and vertical ICT fields as defined in the Rolling Plan for ICT Standardisation; one of the focuses is digital learning and skills development.
Drones4GREEN is an Erasmus+ project funded under the action "cooperation partnership in higher education". It aims to establish training frameworks and educational activities for drone technologies facilitating environmental issues, and one part of this training could be dedicated to standardisation activities. Drones4Green is represented in this MoU by Massive Dynamic Sweden AB (MDS).
The MoU can consolidate even further this commitment. The European Union supports both projects.
"With this collaboration, we open the StandICT.eu 2026 community to Erasmus+ projects, which is a great addition to our ecosystem where we aim to engage with an increasing number of younger people who are only entering or would like to enter the world of international ICT standardisation. We hope that with this collaboration, we can raise the younger generation's awareness about the importance of standardisation for the competitiveness of European digital markets," reflects Mona Marill, project manager at StandICT.eu Fellowship Programme.
Sokratis Nifakos, MDS co-founder reflects: "With this collaboration we can contribute towards standardising educational frameworks for drone technologies to facilitate green activities which will significantly support the objectives of the Drones4Green project."
Moreover, several aspects of drone technology's professional use and exploitation include drone technical deployment and maintenance, data acquisition storage and visualisation. These could also be relevant topics for cascade funding in the StandICT.eu 2026 Open Calls supporting European experts in their work in international standardisation organisations.
