The objective of this contribution was to design a taxonomy of decentralised identifier and identity terms for further integration into ISO/TC307 works developed by AHG5 and JWG4.
My fellowship was key to address the gap between worldwide blockchain and DLT standards in the fields of identifier and identity management, especially between ISO/TC307, ITU-T and W3C while including some European-led reference documents (i.e. EBSI, eSSIF-Lab and INATBA glossaries).
The main challenge was reaching consensus between ISO/TC307 working groups (especially AHG5 and JWG4) to support the revision of ISO/TS 23258:2021 in order to integrate a taxonomy of decentralised identifier and identity terms.

In this fellowship the original objective is to start to prepare a NWI to address the age approriate topic and start the standard development. The aim is to improve the benefits and reduce the risks in the digital world for young users up to the age of 18. The solution is to adapt the content delivered by online products and services according to the age of users. Moreover, the process requires establishing the age/capacity of users, including age verification and age estimation. The CWA does NOT define age estimation and verification processes (Out of scope) but requires to select an appropriate age assurance tools/approach in conformity with established standards and official guidance.

 It aims to develop technical specifications and standards to efficiently manage terminology work ensuring seamless information exchange, minimizing misunderstandings, and enhancing both human-human and human-AI interactions.

The use of digital identity wallets is foreseen to be the best appropriate solution to support an age verification method, which uses the date of birth of the individual without disclosing it.

Understanding how to work in international standardisation committees is vital, which implies going beyond IT asset management microcosm to deliver more value to related disciplines such as cybersecurity or sustainability. 

There is a growing need for information about building services systems during the planning and design of buildings. The designers in building services must execute detailed calculations and simulations to ensure saving of energy and to satisfy hygienic and comfort criteria in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and sanitary plants. 

With this fellowship, I aim to consolidate the European activities and strengthen the European participation in my ISO work group which is yet too limited. In terms of international developments, the priority has been set to the final consolidation of the ISO 22726 series.

Overall, I am taking a more holistic view of the AI standardisation roadmap while pursuing in parallel my contributions to specific AI standards in SC 42 and JTC 21.

In the transversal aspects in data spaces, there is a lack of guidance on the integration of security and privacy, and it is crucial to develop this further as it is a barrier for compliance with regulation (e.g. CRA, AI act). 

This fellowship allows me to take part to all meetings concerning Cybersecurity, Privacy and Artificial Intelligence (even most are very early or very late in the day, as per rules for scheduling in SDO's), whilst being able to keep delivering standard based consulting especially for SMEs which need to comply for ISO 27001 certifications mostly.
