- AI Standardisation for Trustworthy ML Systems in FinTech
Artificial Intelligence
Medium to long term, this work supports EU digital sovereignty by embedding financial-sector-specific AI trustworthiness criteria (model drift detection, explainability for algorithmic trading, backtesting) into international standards before they are finalised, rather than retrofitting compliance later. European FinTech SMEs benefit through clearer, harmonised compliance pathways for the EU AI Act and MiCA, reduced legal uncertainty when adopting AI in credit scoring, insurance and trading, and improved interoperability with open-source ML tooling. Early involvement also lowers the cost of standards conformance for smaller innovators, who otherwise struggle to influence or track standards development compared to large incumbents, strengthening the EU's competitive position in trustworthy AI for financial services.
