Proposal(s) title:
  • Telemetry and KPI semantics for closed-loop edge-cloud orchestration
Proposal(s) topic:

Cloud and Edge Computing

Societal, Economic or Technological Impacts:

Societal, Economic or Technological Impacts (2nd Open Call 2029)

If adopted and implemented, consistent KPI semantics could reduce the integration effort needed to operate edge-cloud services across providers and vendors. Explicit measurement scope, populations, windows and freshness checks support reusable automation policies and more reliable service-objective verification. For European SMEs, this could lower the cost of integrating monitoring and orchestration tools, improve comparability of provider offerings, and reduce dependence on proprietary interpretations of telemetry. The work could support innovation in multi-domain service management and 5G/6G edge applications. These are expected benefits dependent on community uptake and implementation; the fellowship does not claim measured cost savings, production deployment or demonstrated market impact.

Funding impact:
  • Revision of existing work items
  • Custom funding impact (2nd Open Call 2029)
This fellowship supports my work as an individual contributor in the IETF Network Management Operations (NMOP) Working Group, where I contribute to operational KPI semantics for closed-loop edge-cloud services.
