  • Operational Logging Requirements for High-Risk AI Systems — Targeted Contributions to prEN ISO/IEC
Proposal(s) topic:

Artificial Intelligence

Societal, Economic or Technological Impacts:

Societal, Economic or Technological Impacts (2nd Open Call 2029)

In the medium to long term, clearer AI system logging standards can improve AI Act implementation, reduce compliance uncertainty and strengthen trust in high-risk AI systems. For European SMEs, practical logging guidance can lower barriers to market access by clarifying what evidence is expected for traceability, post-market monitoring and auditability. Technologically, the work supports better monitoring of model drift, safety boundary changes and performance degradation. Economically, it can reduce fragmented compliance costs and support interoperable evidence practices across providers, deployers and auditors. Societally, it contributes to more accountable and transparent AI deployment in Europe.

Funding impact:
  • Custom funding impact (2nd Open Call 2029)
This short-term fellowship supported a targeted technical contribution to CEN-CLC/JTC 21, with a primary focus on prEN ISO/IEC 24970 — AI system logging under WG3 (Engineering Aspects). The participation route through BDS / the national mirror committee was confirmed; an issue matrix was prepared; a cross-mapping note between AI Act Articles 12 and 72 and prEN ISO/IEC 24970 was completed.
