Using a combination of academic research and case studies, this paper explores the relationship between standards and innovation and summarizes the currrent state of research in this area. In this paper, we take a broad understanding of the term “innovation” in order to reflect the multiplicity of definitions used in the literature and to provide an inclusive overview of the research.
