Grounding prEN 18229-1's logging/transparency/human-oversight provisions and the ISO/IEC 12792:2025 transparency taxonomy in real deployment evidence from a small school and a care provider should make the resulting standard usable by resource-constrained organisations, not only large vendors while reducing compliance uncertainty and adoption cost for European SMEs deploying AI in education and care. The four cross-cutting gaps identified (access asymmetry for micro-deployers, no addressee for mediated/child users, a content-vs-comprehensibility gap, and lack of proportionate expressions for small organisations) point directly at barriers that, if addressed in the standard text, would improve interoperability between AI suppliers and small deployers, ease market access for SME AI vendors serving education and care sectors, and strengthen practical, demonstrable compliance with AI Act Articles 13–14 across the EU single market.
