Contribution impact:
Harmonized standards are essential for demonstrating presumption of conformity. Advancing APD methodologies ensure that regulatory compliance will keep pace with technological evolution in complex scenarios intrinsic to 5G/6G.Clear, harmonized, and technically feasible standards will reduce uncertainty, compliance costs, and time to market for new ICT products. This is especially important for EU SMEs, which often lack resources to navigate fragmented and unclear compliance regimes.

Support the development of the new standard IEC/IEEE 63195-3/4:2027 (ED1) dedicated to the user exposure assessment by handheld and portable/wearable devices operating in the 6-300GHz range allocated for 5G and next generation 6G. This new standard will complement two other related standards under revision (63195-1/2:2027 ED2 and 62704-1 ED2) that shall be published at the same time creating a harmonized framework for SAR/IPD/APD assessment.
