INATBA and StandICT.eu 2023 Partner to harness the benefits of blockchain and DLT for businesses, the public sector and society
Brussels, 18 November 2020 - StandICT.eu 2023, the ICT Standardisation Observatory and Support Facility in Europe, and INATBA (International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications), are joining forces with an MoU with the goal of bringing more European insights from the blockchain community to the European ICT Standards.
StandICT.eu 2023’s mission is twofold: the first objective is to fund European ICT experts through a series of Open Calls to participate in international Standardisation Developing Organisations Working Groups covering topics such as 5G and fixed networks, IoT, Cybersecurity, Data, Cloud Computing, Quantum Technologies, AI, Blockchain, Industry 4.0, ITS/Automating driving, FinTech/Financial Services and eHealth, etc.
INATBA (International Association of Trusted Blockchain Applications) brings together industry, startups and SMEs, policy makers, international organisations, regulators, civil society and standard setting bodies to support blockchain and DLT to be mainstreamed and scaled-up across multiple sectors. Furthermore, INATBA promotes the usage of blockchain technology by developing transparent and trust-based global frameworks across several sectors including privacy, identity, governance, supply chain, and more.
StandICT.eu sees its liaison with INATBA beneficial through support to the interactive discussion forum in the form of a European Observatory for ICT standardization- #EU-OS, where the project hopes to move all actors to open new topics and discussions through this open shared space to enhance Europe’s competitiveness. INATBA’s expertise in the blockchain sector will deliver value insights to the the #EU-OS and StandICT.eu’s standards community.
StandICT.eu 2023 has recently rolled the first of 10 Open Calls that will run until the next 4th January 2021. Its leading topic, “ICT for Healthcare” has been chosen as key-priority due to the critical importance of the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants may apply for any other ICT domains as defined in the 2020 Rolling Plan on ICT Standardisation and in the Digital Europe Programme.
Blockchain & Distributed Ledger Technology are further priorities in this list. The European Commission is supporting blockchain on the policy, legal and regulatory, and funding fronts (the European Blockchain Partnership is a clear example of this approach). At the same time, the EC interacts with the private sector, academia and the blockchain community, which INATBA will also help facilitate as part of this MOU.
Commenting on the signing of the MoU, CEO Trust-It and StandICT.eu 2023 Project Coordinator Silvana Muscella said:“Having the direct channel with INATBA will allow us to be up to date with all challenges, gaps and priorities in the Blockchain community and help us shape our Open calls accordingly in the coming months, we can also guide those EU projects working on these topics to liaise with INATBA to ensure R&D investments are being taken up efficiently.”

This memorandum intends to establish a trustworthy collaboration between StandICT.eu 2023 and INATBA, by ensuring mutual benefits. On the one hand, StandICT.eu 2023 can represent a valuable opportunity for the European Blockchain community to benefit of financial help to bring their Standardisation efforts and activities forward in the Blockchain landscape, while on the other hand, INATBA will contribute with valuable insights to the successful development and deployment of the #EU-OS European Observatory from 2020 to 2023, bringing to the table the unaddressed priorities, challenges and needs of the Blockchain sector.
