StandICT.eu will take part onsite in the Global ICT Standards Conference (GISC) 2026, held in Seoul on 2-4 November, represented by Maria Giuffrida, StandICT.eu Project Coordinator.

Maria will moderate the day 3 (4th November) Joint Workshop “Driving Global AI Ecosystem: Standardisation Capacity Building Strategy” and present StandICT.eu’s experience in widening participation in ICT and AI standardisation in the EU context.

The workshop is co-organised with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) of Korea, a StandICT.eu partner since 2025 and brings together stakeholders from Korea, Japan, Europe, Malaysia and Vietnam to discuss how to build the skills, expertise and communities needed to take part in AI standardisation.

This conversation is timely because technological leadership depends not only on innovation but also on qualified experts who can contribute to international standards development. As AI standards take shape globally, skills gaps and barriers for SMEs, young professionals and underrepresented groups risk limiting who has a voice.

StandICT.eu will enrich the discussion by sharing how its Fellowship Programme supports European experts in international standardisation, while the Mentorship Programme and Academy offer practical guidance to newcomers.

During GISC 2026, StandICT.eu and TTA will sign a new Memorandum of Understanding renewing their cooperation on sharing best practices on standardisation Capacity Bulding and Awareness raising for anotehr year.
